MARY AND THE EUCHARIST
4. Mary's Communion.
While it is not certain that Mary received the Holy Communion in the Last Supper, we cannot doubt that She would very often receive Holy Eucharist from the hands of St. John the Evangelist. The virgin Apostle was giving Communion to the Virgin of virgins. What a sublime sight! What a communion! How willingly would Jesus enter the soul of Mary! If He had chosen Her most pure womb for His incarnation, would he not now choose Her heart for His dwelling? How would Our Lady prepare Herself for the Communion! What would be Her thanksgiving! If St. Aloysius used to spend the whole week thinking of Holy Communion, and used to devote three full days to preparation and another three to thanksgiving, what would Mary do? Whenever you approach the Holy Eucharist imitate Her in Her fervor. Receive it with Mary and like Mary. The whole of your life should be spent in intimate intercourse with the Holy Eucharist.
