ASIA/HOLY LAND - The Basilica of the Annunciation offers Personal Light and Prayer service via the Internet

Jerusalem (Agenzia Fides) - To give Christians all over the world the joy of lighting a candle and receiving a special blessing from one of most loved Holy Places in the world, the Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth offers a 'Light and Prayer Service' via the Internet.

By visiting www.mirezo.com (mi rezo means my prayer) Christians can have a votive candle lit and a special blessing said in their name either by the Latin rite Franciscan parish priest or the Orthodox Bishop of Nazareth and all Galilee. "Your personal Light & Pray Service will take place according to the time and date of your request. A priest from the Annunciation Church in Nazareth will light a candle for you and will grant you the blessing of our saviour Jesus Christ" the site announces

With an offering of 10 US dollars per blessing besides having a special prayer said in Nazareth Christians the world over will be supporting the needy Christian community in the Holy Land. There is a form to be filled in with suggestions for the desired prayer text and the name of the person for whom the prayer is said. The initiative aims also to encourage Christians to make a pilgrimage in person the Holy Places in a spirit of peace and reconciliation.

This mirezo.com service organised by a private company based in Cyprus is rendered in full agreement with the church authorities of the different Christian denominations in Nazareth. The director Said Salem, said the purpose is to support Christians in the Holy Land and to “allow Christians all over the world to make a virtual pilgrimage in spirit to the Holy Places ”.

The short prayer service arranged by www.mirezo.com on the date and at the time requested by the person, can be seen on the internet and be always available via a personal mirezo account. (PA) (Agenzia Fides 18/5/2007 righe 25 parole 251)
