Debate over Bible classes in public schools
Courses on the Bible are becoming a part of public school curricula, even in California. Last April, according an Aug. 6 Los Angeles Times story, Murrietta school district in Riverside County voted to offer, this fall, a course on the Bible. Aliso Niguel High School in Aliso Viejo in southern Orange County currently offers such a course.
Paul Diffley, a Murrieta school board member, said the board’s decision inspired different responses. “A lot of people thought it was one heck of a good idea,” he said. “Others thought we were Satan’s pawn.”
