[MaryVitamin] The Strength of our Lady’s Humility

Mary Vitamin for February 18th

Topic: The Strength of our Lady's Humility

Quote:
 St. Louis de Montfort
"What Lucifer lost by pride Mary won by humility. What Eve ruined and lost by disobedience Mary saved by obedience. By obeying the serpent, Eve ruined her children as well as herself and delivered them up to him. Mary by her perfect fidelity to God saved her children with herself and consecrated them to his divine majesty."
True Devotion to Mary, par #53

Meditation:
St. Teresa of Avila
"A truly humble person never believes he can be wronged in anything. Truly, we ought to be ashamed to resent whatever is said or done against us; for it is the greatest shame in the world to see that our Creator bears so many insults from His creatures, and that we resent even a little word that is contradictory.
Let contemplative souls, in particular, take notice that if they do not find themselves quite resolved to pardon any injury or affront which may be inflicted upon them, they cannot trust much to their prayer. For the soul which God truly unites to Himself by so lofty a method of prayer, feels none of these things, and no longer cares whether she is esteemed or not, or whether she is spoken well of or ill; nay rather honors and repose give her more pain than dishonor and trials."
A Year With the Saints, February (Tan Books:1998), 54-5.

Resolution:
From the tantrums of two year olds to difficult co-workers or  family members,  how many opportunities are there to practice humility? One time today, in the face of one of these opportunities, I will strive not to take offense by  remembering the powerful humility of Our Lady.

Marian Vow:
St. Louis de Montfort
"But the humble Mary will always triumph over Satan, the proud one, and so great will be her victory that she will crush his head, the very seat of his pride. She will unmask his serpent's cunning and expose his wicked plots. She will scatter to the winds his devilish plans and to the end of time will keep her faithful servants safe from his cruel claws."
True Devotion to Mary, par 54

I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Thanks be to God for graces received.
