While Calling All to be “Redeemers in the one Redeemer”
Dear Friends in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary,
Over the years, many of you have received my humble pleas to be generous in persevering to offer prayers and sacrifices for the Fifth Marian Dogma. Oftentimes these pleas were bereft of any new information of encouragement or development on the Marian Dogma, but simply a begging for ongoing prayers in virtue of the fact that Our Immaculate and Coredemptive Mother deserves this dogmatic crowning, coupled with the truth that our world in crisis desperately needs the historic graces promised by Our Lady with the declaration of this Marian dogma, more so with the passing of each day.
Now, I am very grateful to be able to join my usual begging for prayer and penance for the Fifth Marian Dogma with some extremely encouraging news. During Pope Benedict’s Fatima visit of May 11-14, 2010, our Holy Father used expressions that led various international Catholic news agencies to contact me to ask whether these choice wordings were as significant for the Fifth Marian Dogma as they themselves thought. My answer is “Yes.”
During Pope Benedict’s sublime Prayer of Marian Entrustment of Priests on May 12, he refers to Our Mother as the “Advocate and Mediatrix of Grace.” (Click here for text of prayer) Knowing of the recent international petitioning from cardinals and bishops from four continents, of the requests from Vatican national ambassadors, as well as the over 7 million petitions from the world’s faithful which continue to consistently pour in to the Vatican, I do not believe that Pope Benedict would put these terms together – terms which have direct association wit the request for the Fifth Dogma - if he did not wish to send an encouragement to so many of you who have been praying and offering for this dogmatic crown for many years.
On the following day, the great May 13 Fatima anniversary, Pope Benedict offered a succinct but profound teaching on Christian coredemption which climaxed with focusing on our universal spiritual Mother at the foot of the cross. As the Holy Father was about to process with our Eucharistic Jesus amidst the sick and suffering, he identified them as “redeemers with the Redeemer” and reminded them “ At the cross… stands the mother of Jesus, our mother." (Click here to see text)
Here the Vicar of Christ illustrates not only that we are all called to be “redeemers” by uniting our sufferings with the sufferings of the one divine Redeemer, but also directs our gaze to the woman-mother who suffered with her crucified Son as a co-redeemer. As one Catholic journalist commented, “This can only support and set the stage for a deeper understanding of Mary as Co-redemptrix. What else could it mean, that we, as members of Christ’s faithful are all redeemers with the Redeemer in our sufferings, but Mary alone is not a co-redeemer? No, on the contrary, the Pope’s words are is a theological preparation.”
Ultimately, my friends in the Two Hearts, we persevere in our prayers and daily sacrifices for the Fifth Marina Dogma in any case because of the peaceful assurance in our hearts given by the Holy Spirit that this proclamation will bring proper recognition to Our Mother as desired by heaven itself, and because it will effect a historic outpouring of grace so ubiquitously needed today. Today, however, I pray that this encouraging news from Fatima as enacted by our Holy Father will renew and redouble our spiritual generosity for the soonest possible accomplishment of the Mother’s victorious definition.
I have also attached (click for link) a recent article published by Zenit News Agency which articulates how I believe that the best defense for our saintly Holy Father amidst the myriad of unjust attacks he presently faces is a Marian offense: the proclamation of the Fifth Marian Dogma, which Catholic faith and history manifests will bring forth a supernatural, Marian-directed remedy for the unprecedented contemporary attacks on the papacy and on the Church.
Finally, in light of the extreme nature of attacks being leveled against the Church, the unprecedented natural disasters, and the overall moral demise of contemporary society, could you please consider adding some form of fasting to your existing prayers for Our Lady’s Dogma? I ask especially the thousands of consecrated religious men and women to please lead the way by your example of offering some form of consistent weekly fasting or sacrifice for the Holy Father and the proclamation of the Dogma – the supernatural Marian remedy for the global maladies of mind and spirit.
May the Holy Spirit through the Immaculate Heart of Mary blessing you abundantly and eternally for your love and generosity offered for the Lord’s Mother and her crowning dogma as Spiritual Mother of all humanity, Co-redemptrix, Mediatrix of all graces and Advocate. No heart is more grateful for this eventual honoring of the Immaculate Heart than the Most Sacred and Eucharistic Heart of her Son, Our Lord, Our Saviour, Our Greatest Friend: Our Brother of the same Mother: Our Jesus.
Most gratefully in Their Two Hearts,
Dr. Mark Miravalle
