Serious Spiritual Direction
From Argentina via Michigan to California
On August 15, 1984, Father Roberto Yannuzzi received the inspiration to found an association of priests dedicated to the spiritual direction of souls. In 1994 the priests were elevated to the status of clerical religious order by the archbishop of La Plata, Argentina. The order’s name – Miles Christi – soldiers of Christ. When the order looked to start activities in the U.S., the late Father John Hardon, S.J., a consultant to the drafting of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, took the Argentines under his wing. In October 2000, the Miles Christi was welcomed to Michigan by Cardinal Adam Maida, and in 2009 by Bishop Robert Brom to San Diego. The Miles Christi priests have been given the use of a house in the La Mesa area of San Diego and the use of offices in the Sorrento Valley area. This West Coast base has enabled the priests to serve a robust schedule of weekend retreats in the western U.S. The retreats follow closely the model of St. Ignatius of Loyola’s spiritual exercises, including strict silence, prayer, general confession, and reverent celebration of the Mass. The spiritual exercises are set up for weekends throughout the year and throughout the U.S., including Arizona, California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia. The California weekends remaining in 2010 include: June 11-13 (men - Danville)
June 25-27 (women – Oceanside)
September 10-12 (men – Oceanside)
September 17-19 (women – Santa Barbara)
October 28-30 (women – Oceanside)
November 19-21 (men – Santa Barbara) For more information Click here. From http://www.calcatholic.com/
