Nation to pray for "people of the sea" May 22

Sunday, May 22 is the National Day of Prayer and Remembrance for Mariners and People of the Sea. The occasion was designed and approved by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Many Catholic parishes mark the day with special homilies and petitions at Sunday Mass. The day of prayer coincides with National Maritime Day in the United States, celebrated since 1933.
