Dear Family of Mary!
"Dear children! I am coming among you because I desire to be your mother - your intercessor. I desire to be the bond between you and the Heavenly Father - your mediatrix. I desire to take you by the hand and to walk with you in the battle against the impure spirit. My children, consecrate yourselves to me completely. I will take your lives into my motherly hands and I will teach them peace and love, and then I will give them over to my Son. I am asking of you to pray and fast because only in this way will you know how to witness my Son in the right way through my motherly heart. Pray for your shepherds that, united in my Son, they can always joyfully proclaim the Word of God. Thank you." (March 18, 2012 Mirjana)
"I will take your lives into my motherly hands and I will teach them peace and love, and then I will give them over to my Son." This sentence is beautiful, but a bit awkward. Of course we want Our Lady to take us into her hands and teach us peace and love. We want to be educated in her school. But to take our lives into her hands and teach them? What can she mean? Possibly she is trying to help us understand that it is our totality - our life - that needs to be changed. It is not enough for us to like the idea of peace and love, we must change our entire lives so that in every circumstance, every time and place, every relationship, we will be loving and peaceful. Only then can she offer us to her Son, as fit disciples and witnesses. Only then can we become part of Jesus' plan for the world.
If we live our consecration to Mary in a radical way, like Blessed John Paul II, so that we give everything over to her, she will be able to change us into peace and love. This must mean that before every activity, before each encounter, before all our work, before we sleep and when we wake, we will refer to Our Lady in prayer, asking her guidance and her wisdom, her blessing and her correction. We will be mindful of her influence over us at all times.
I am reminded of a very beautiful behavior I have noticed in little babies. These are babies from about 6 months to little children of 3 years of age. A little one can be at play on the floor, attracted to toys, and investigating his environment, but very often, almost rhythmically the child will look up and make eye contact with his mother. It may only be a brief look, but it is enough to say, "Good, you are still there, I'm ok. I know you will keep me safe and make sure I don't do something stupid!" This natural homing device between a child and his mother is a necessary communication tool for the little one. They need to stay in contact with mother. They need to be protected by mother. They need to get cues from her about what they can and cannot do. They need to be filled with her loving gaze, so that they have the courage to keep investigating their world. They just need mother!
I feel like we need to live with Our Lady in just such a relationship, if we are going to live our consecration to the full. We need to keep checking in with our Mother, to be sure we are on the right path, in each situation. She is our love and peace "compass". She knows how to teach us love and peace. But we have to look to her for guidance. Each situation in our life requires her expertise.
The homing device of little ones is built in and natural. But we can make it built in too, if we stay in prayer throughout our day. It will become our way of life. We will have a running conversation with Mary.
One way to maintain that internal conversation with Mary is to read her messages every day. If we fill our minds and hearts with her words to us, we will have much to say to her as we continue our daily lives. A friend wrote me recently, saying just this:
"I am enjoying reading her messages so much. I am so filled with peace and hope after reading them every day. I am so sure that She is the one to bring [us] the peace and personal relationship with God [we] so desperately need. It's the only way!"
I agree! Our Lady wants to make our lives into peace and love. She wants to do it! We only need to keep looking at her, zeroing in on her beloved face, and receiving from her all we need to become like her, peace and love!

P.S. I am going to a "Healing of the Family Tree" Seminar this weekend. I do believe that we can help our families become peace and love through prayer for healing of the family tree. At the base of healing for families is forgiveness and intercession. We can all do that, forgive and intercede for our families. Fr. John Hampsch, C.M.F. has an excellent book, Healing Your Family Tree. Available at Queenship Publishing,www.queenship.org or 800 647 9882. |
