St. Joseph the Worker

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! Also today I am calling you to prayer, and may your heart, little children, open towards God as a flower opens towards the warmth of the sun. I am with you and I intercede for all of you. Thank you for having responded to my call." (April 25, 2012)

It should not escape us that Our Lady again tells us, "I am with you and I intercede for all of you." Our Mother repeats this wonderful news to us very often indeed. Maybe she has said it so often that we pass over it as a formality, a nice saying. But it is anything but...

Our Lady is with us. She is very much with us. Indeed, I believe we are living in those last days that St. Louis Marie Grignion de Monfort spoke so profoundly about, those days when God will raise up His Mother to lead us in the battle for souls. In these latter days, Our Lady has been sent to be very near us, very much a part of our lives. He wrote:

55. Finally, God in these times wishes his Blessed Mother to be more known, loved and honored than she has ever been. This will certainly come about if the elect, by the grace and light of the Holy Spirit, adopt the interior and perfect practice of the devotion which I shall later unfold. Then they will clearly see that beautiful Star of the Sea, as much as faith allows. Under her guidance they will perceive the splendors of this Queen and will consecrate themselves entirely to her service as subjects and slaves of love. They will experience her motherly kindness and affection for her children. They will love her tenderly and will appreciate how full of compassion she is and how much they stand in need of her help. In all circumstances they will have recourse to her as their advocate and mediatrix with Jesus Christ. They will see clearly that she is the safest, easiest, shortest and most perfect way of approaching Jesus and will surrender themselves to her, body and soul, without reserve in order to belong entirely to Jesus. (St. Louis de Montfort. True Devotion to Mary. N55)

We, in this day, do stand in need of Our Lady's help!  And she is with us to give it. (By the way, doesn't this passage from St. Louis sound so much like the visionaries!)

As an example, there is a beautiful description of the closeness and tender motherly care of Our Lady to Marija Pavlovic-Lunetti that I came across in a book by Fr. Rene Laurentain. It is from an interview with Marija in 1989 in which she spoke about her operation to donate her kidney to her brother. Marija shared:

Question: Marija, you have just lived some important moments. What can you tell us about them?

Marija: The Gospa appeared to me every day in America (November 1988-January 1989). During the first days after the operation, her visits lasted shorter than usual. The Blessed Virgin always gave me her blessing and that was for me the occasion of a deep evolution, bound to the offering which I made to God on behalf of my brother [her kidney was donated to him]. For my part, this process represented really an intense joy and a great enrichment: not only what I gave, but also what I received, and I obtained very special graces throughout this time...My greatest happiness was the presence of the Queen of Peace at my side during the two hour operation. She said nothing, but the expression on her face changed constantly. Her visit obtained for me a living joy, especially after the oblation, at the moment when the sufferings intensified.

Question: Explain more [about] this apparition under anesthesia.

Marija: She informed me the day before that she would be near me, but I did not know what she meant by that. I had talked with the doctors and I had informed them that I would perhaps have an apparition, in case they would report an extraordinary phenomenon. Her visit was prolonged during two hours. The surgeon declared that God alone had been able to direct the course of the intervention.

Question: Did you see yourself and the course of the operation?

Marija: I did not see anything of the intervention. I only saw the Mother of God.

Question: Before you?

Marija: No, she remained above me. The expression on her face changed constantly. At the beginning, she was serious. Then her expression became joyful. When everything was over, I guessed from her attitude. (Fr. Rene Laurentin. Nine Years of Apparitions. The Riehle Foundation. 1991. P. 126)

Nineyears

Imagine, the Mother of God, as any good mother, at your side during an operation! (Well hovering over the operating table!) This is so touching, so beautiful to me. Marija was not alone, Our Lady was with her, following every stage of the procedure and interceding for Marija. I think this is a very good depiction of how close Our Lady is to each of us, and of how solicitous she is to our every need. She is our very dear Mother!

In these days, Our Lady has been allowed to come very close to her children. These are those last days when she will, together with her children, crush the head of satan. She is here with us, very close, to help us in the battle, to help us on our path to heaven.

Indeed, we are the children St. Louis de Montfort spoke of: "They will experience her motherly kindness and affection for her children. They will love her tenderly and will appreciate how full of compassion she is and how much they stand in need of her help. In all circumstances they will have recourse to her as their advocate and mediatrix with Jesus Christ."

Let us jump for joy, clap our hands and sing! We have such a Mother!

PS. St. Joseph is right beside Our Lady in these days, helping each of us. Thank you, St Joseph!! We love you!
