WASHINGTON, Oct. 25, 2016 /Christian Newswire/ -- "Do Catholic bishops have the courage to do what's right," John M. Snyder of Telum Associates asked here today.

"Does the hierarchy have the guts to declare the faithful in good conscience may not vote for Hillary Clinton for president because she promotes abortion, euthanasia and same sex marriage," Snyder continued.

Snyder noted, "Denver Archbishop Samuel Aquila affirmed recently that 'Catholics in good conscience cannot support candidates who will advance abortion.'

"That means Hillary Clinton!"

Snyder continued, "Archbishop Aquila stated, 'The right to life is the most important and fundamental right, since life is necessary for any of the other rights to matter. There are some issues that can legitimately be debated by Christians, such as which policies are the most effective in caring for the poor, but the direct killing of innocent human life must be opposed at all times by every follower of Jesus Christ. There are no legitimate exceptions to this teaching.'"

Snyder said, "Other, pusillanimous Catholic prelates are dragging their feet on this matter. It's time for them and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to do the right thing."

Snyder noted, "Life News indicated recently Hillary would 'make Christians change their religious views to support abortion.' As president she would persecute the Church."

He said an American Values Action video showed Clinton stating: "deep seated cultural codes, religious beliefs, and structural biases have to be changed;" "the unborn person doesn't have constitutional rights;" and "the only people that I would ever appoint to the Supreme Court are people who believe that Roe v. Wade is settled law."

"In sharp contrast, Donald Trump recently wrote Catholics, 'I am, and will remain, pro-life. I will defend your religious liberties and the right to fully and freely practice your religion ...I will appoint Justices to the Supreme Court who will strictly interpret the Constitution and not legislate from the bench, like Justice Clarence Thomas and beloved great Catholic thinker and jurist Justice Antonin Scalia.'"

Snyder said, "The issue for Catholics and others is clear: culture of death follower Hillary Clinton or right to life champion Donald Trump."
