St. Scholastica

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children, you are gathering around me, you are seeking your way, you are seeking, you are seeking the truth but are forgetting what is the most important, you are forgetting to pray properly. Your lips pronounce countless words, but your spirit does not feel anything. Wandering in darkness, you even imagine God himself according to yourselves, and not such as he really is in his love. Dear children, proper prayer comes from the depth of your heart, from your suffering, from your joy, from your seeking the forgiveness of sins. This is the way to come to know the right God, and by that also yourselves, because you are created according to him. Prayer will bring you to the fulfillment of my desire, of my mission here with you, to the unity of God's family. Thank you."

I have not heard Our Lady speak about her mission so clearly before.  She has asked us to pray for her intentions so that what God wanted to do through her presence in Medjugorje would be accomplished.  But she tells us here what her mission is, "the unity of God's family".

Isn't it true that we all ache deep in our hearts to be united with each other, to be of one heart and mind, and to live in a trusting and loving communion together as people!  In such unity, we would experience the peace we long for.  In such unity, we would find the joy of life!  It would be a union built on God's love and plan for our lives.  We would be truly God's family.

The Father created us to be a family.  We have descended from two parents, Adam and Eve, so in truth we are family!  We have common ancestors!  I came across this paragraph from the Catechism of the Catholic Church that talks about this very unity we have:

"Because of its common origin the human race forms a unity, for 'from one ancestor [God] made all nations to inhabit the whole earth' (Acts 17:26; cf. Tob. 8:6)

"'O wondrous vision, which makes us contemplate the human race in the unity of its origin in God...in the unity of its nature, composed equally in all men of a material body and a spiritual soul; in the unity of its immediate end and its mission in the world; in the unity of its dwelling, the earth, whose benefits all men, by right of nature, may use to sustain and develop life; in the unity of its supernatural end: God himself, to whom all ought to tend; in the unity of the means for attaining this end; ...in the unity of the redemption wrought by Christ for all.' (Pius XII, encyclical, Summi Pontificatus 3; cf. NA1)

"'This law of human solidarity and charity,' without excluding the rich variety of persons, cultures, and peoples, assures us that all men are truly brethren."  (Catechism of the Catholic Church, n. 360)

We are made by God to be a unity of love.  That is what Our Lady wants to restore in us.  She tells us it is by prayer that that unity will grow.  Prayer of the heart!  Proper prayer!  Prayer that comes from our suffering, our joy, and our seeking the forgiveness of sins!  This kind of prayer will transform us into saints, people capable of love, people able to live together in peace!  The unity will spread, as we become capable of unity!  Isn't that awesome!

May we become people of prayer so that we may be one in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit!

In Jesus and Mary!
