Dear Family of Mary!

First, let me apologize for not sending out a reflection on February 11.  I was down with the flu.  Thank you for your patience.  I was offering up my little suffering for all of you and I have taken a much needed rest this weekend.  So hopefully all will be back to normal this week!

While I was resting, Denis was busy writing a little reflection for all of you which I will send out today, since I am still not quite better.  He wants to share about the world wide phenomenon of the "Confession App" for iPhone that was released last week. He begins:

February 11, 2011

"Monthly confession will be a remedy for the Church in the West.  One must convey this message to the West." (August 6, 1982)

Five months after MARY TV started a daily rosary live over the internet, consecrating the internet everyday to Our Lady of Medjugorje, Pope Benedict XVI called to the church: "Without fear we must set sail on the digital sea facing into the deep with the same passion that has governed the ship of the Church for two thousand years." (4/25/10)

This morning I received an email from a friend in South Bend whose family has responded to the Holy Father's appeal.  Within 24 hours of setting sail on the digital sea the Sacrament of Confession was the center of attention for the world's media!  Denise Hagerty writes:

"One Saturday morning our son in law Patrick Leinen, his brother and a friend decided to make an application for iPhones "Confession: A Roman Catholic App". In less than 24 hours after sending out a press release their app started selling like hot cakes and reporters started calling ... articles were popping up on the internet and in newspapers all over the world.  They were doing television interviews ... no one even had time to sleep because of their phones ringing off the hook and the late night interviews (European journalists on different time zones).

"Less than two weeks later they have been covered by every major news organization in the world.  Their product has even been joked about in monologues on late night TV.  They are living in a surreal state of global media frenzy attention - including the press secretary at the Vatican in Rome calling après conference himself, to comment on their little Saturday morning activity!  Amazing, amazing, amazing!"

I sent my congratulations: "When would any of these people in the media (Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien, Whoopi Goldberg, et al) ever give the slightest attention to the Sacrament of Confession!!! You don't even hear Priests mention it from the pulpit....  And all of a sudden the world's media has its attention focused there - The Associated Press, The New York Times, writing major news articles (and getting it right) about the Roman Catholic Church's Sacrament of Confession!

Denise responded:  "Oh thank you Denis!  What you expressed are our sentiments exactly.  I was sitting at the kid's dining room table the other night ... Patrick and Dianna, his brother Chip and his wife Virginia ... all in front of computers fielding the press and answering questions and emails, and watching the app climb to break into the top 100 out of 400,000 apple apps and keep climbing [number 23 as of today, February 11th]!!!   It hit #2 yesterday out of 40,000 in the "Lifestyle" category alone!!!

"Patrick just put his head in his hands for a moment and everyone got quiet ... he exclaimed, after checking all the records and facts, that an app having to do with Catholicism had never reached anywhere near these positions.  And imagine, it not only was Roman Catholic, but the subject matter is about the least favorite sacrament (to most people).  He said the Holy Spirit had to be driving this.   I told him to recall Our Lady's January message ... 'The Holy Spirit is changing a multitude ...'   I reminded all at the table that Medjugorje is the 'confessional of the world' (JPII).

"Catholic schools and catholic priests are calling all the time responding to Little iApps offer to give 1/2 price for schools purchasing apps for their students, etc., etc. Oh Dear Lord ... help us to do your will!"

Denise and her family regularly take groups on pilgrimage to Medjugorje (Our Lady Calls Pilgrimages).  A Medjugorje app with Our Lady's messages is already being planned.

Yesterday when Vatican Radio celebrated its 80th anniversary, an official of the Vatican Secretariat of State challenged the broadcaster to keep pace with "a veritable revolution underway today in the world of media ... not having new technical tools at one's full disposal, or not knowing about the most current tools, will mean that one's message will arrive late, will arrive wrong, and might even arrive in vain."

You can see why I am so excited!  Our Lady has been asking us to reach out to her children throughout the world through all means.  This is what she has been asking for!  Just see what the Holy Spirit can do with our little efforts!!

Join Cathy and me praying the rosary live every day over the internet consecrating the internet to Our Lady of Medjugorje. You can pray with us live at 10:00 AM EST (at <www.marytv.tv>) or in the Archives under Daily Rosary at any other time. Also,  on February 10th, the day the official in Rome representing the Vatican Secretariat of State was giving his challenge to keep pace with "a veritable revolution underway today in the world of Media", Matt Matasso devised a way to make our live rosary consecrating the internet to Our Lady of Medjugorje work on iPhone with Skyfire!  (Instructions on our website!)

The consecration is working!
