Mary Vitamin Topic: For the Feast of St. Thomas More (6/22) Quote: St. Alphonsus di Liguori "When Margaret, the daughter of Sir Thomas More, met her father on the way to death, she could only exclaim, 'O Father! Father!" and fell fainting at his feet. Mary, at the sight of her Son, on His way to Calvary, did not faint, no for it was not becoming." Glories of Mary, (Tan Books), 441. Meditation: Reading from the Book of Job 2:10 "The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord! We accept good things from God; And should we not accept evil?" Resolution: What could be more Marian than the humble acceptance of gifts from God or the patient acceptance of trials? Whatever befalls me today whether a happy gift or the gift of a trial, I will try to see the loving Will of God, just as Our Lady would. Marian Vow: The third Order of St. Francis is known as the Order of Penance: "But behold, the instruments, the trumpeter, and the executioners, have already passed; she raised her eyes, and saw, O God! A young man covered with blood and wounds from head to foot, a wreath of thorns on His head, and two heavy beams on His shoulders." Father Faber, At the Foot of the Cross (Tan Books) I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Thanks be to God for graces received. Related sites: Castle of the Immaculate & AirMaria |
