SCRIPTURE COMMENTARY #261

And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that the ship was filled. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, sleeping upon a pillow; and they awake him, and say to him: "Master, doth, it not concern thee that we perish?" (Mark 4:37-38)

THE WEAK FAITH OF THE DISCIPLES was shown by their thinking that our Lord, when asleep, was powerless to help them. They forgot that His Godhead cannot sleep, but is ever awake and watchful over His servants.

[From 'A Practical Commentary on Holy Scripture' by Bishop Knecht, D.D.]
