Lots of good wheat!
November 24, 2010 Dear Family of Mary! "Dear children! Today I invite you to accept with seriousness and to live the messages which I am giving you. I am with you and I desire, dear children, that each one of you be ever closer to my heart. Therefore, little children, pray and seek the will of God in your everyday life. I desire that each one of you discover the way of holiness and grow in it until eternity. I will pray for you and intercede for you before God that you understand the greatness of this gift which God is giving me that I can be with you. Thank you for having responded to my call." (April 25, 1990) Dear children, do not allow Satan to take control of your hearts and that you become an image of him and not of me." (January 30, 1986) Mother Mary tells us that she wants us to "discover the way of holiness and grow in it until eternity." Like good plants, she wants us to prosper, grow, and bear good fruit. We have a choice. We can grow closer to Our Lady and take on her attributes, becoming good and holy, or we can turn from her and take on her enemy's attributes. For good or ill, we are always growing. I came across a wonderful meditation on this aspect of "growing" on the website of Bernard Gallagher, The Medjugorje Message (http://crownofstars.blogspot.com/ ). Bernard entitled it, "Of false prophets and their counterfeit crop": "Jesus put a parable before the crowds: The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field. While everybody was asleep his enemy came, sowed darnel all among the wheat, and made off. When the new wheat sprouted and ripened, the darnel appeared as well. The owner's servants went to him and said. "Sir, was it not good seed that you sowed in your field? If so, where does this darnel come from?" "Some enemy has done this," he answered. And the servants said, "Do you want us to go and weed it out?" But he said, "No, because when you weed out the darnel you might pull up the wheat with it. Let them both grow till the harvest; and at harvest time I shall say to the reapers: First collect the darnel and tie it in bundles to be burnt, then gather the wheat into my barn." (Matthew 13: 24-30)
From Wikipedia, we find this description of darnel:
"Darnel is a weed that bears close resemblance to wheat. So extensive is the similarity, until the ear appears that it is known as "false wheat". It grows plentiful in Syria and Israel. On real wheat the ears are so heavy that it makes the entire plant droop downward, but darnel, whose ears are light, remains upright. Wheat will also appear brown when ripe whereas darnel is black. Darnel also has a characteristic which can lead to poisoning, intoxication and death." · Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lolium_temulentum ) As we see, darnel can grow up among the wheat stalks, unnoticed until harvest time, by all but the most trained eye. But darnel is not wheat. It is a counterfeit. And if it is eaten, it can cause death. The enemy may sound very much like Our Lady, but he is poisonous. We have to be careful to listen only to Our Lady. But if we are not careful, we may start listening to the enemy, who would very much like to steal us away from Our Lady, and we might begin to grow up as false wheat ourselves. We could become an image of the enemy, as Our Lady warns. It is not until the fruit develops that good can be distinguished from bad. One of our Internet Rosary members wrote this to me: "Thank you for your story about the wheat today. As I was praying the rosary with you I realized that God will be able to separate us from the bad wheat because of our bowed head. Just like the head of wheat when it becomes ripe. Amazing!" Yes, it is amazing! Real wheat has such heavy, substantial fruit that it bends down towards the ground! If we are bent, in prayer, humble service and adoration, we are probably good fruit! But if our fruit is so light that we don't bend at all, if we are proud and self-serving, well, it speaks for itself!
Our Lady says, "Today I invite you to accept with seriousness and to live the messages which I am giving you. I am with you and I desire, dear children, that each one of you be ever closer to my heart." She is giving us her messages so that we can grow close to her heart, as good-seeded wheat, rich and ready for the eternal harvester. May we be the good wheat and may our witness lead others to the Lord. True prophets are those who witness to Jesus with their lives!
