I expect the Blessed Mother escorted Thomas Rutkoski to the face of Jesus at 7:13 pm on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 while friends and family prayed the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary. "Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen." The words of this familiar prayer took on a different meaning at such a sacred moment while friends and relatives lovingly kept vigil as the soul departed for its destination, its final home, to be happy with God in the next world. After all, isn't that the goal of each of our lives? Remember the second Catechism question you ever learned? Why did God make you? And the answer? God made me to know Him, love Him and serve Him in this world and be happy with Him in the next.
God willing, Thomas got what he prayed for and served his purgatory time on this earth and is enjoying the beatific vision with no more suffering, and no more sorrow.
Each of you have your own memories of Thomas Rutkoski, how he touched your heart and brought the message of Our Lady and the love of Christ to you. Take a little time now to thank God for those moments that God used Thomas Rutkoski to impact your life. Say a prayer for Mary Rutkoski especially as well as the past, present and future volunteers and staff of Gospa Missions and Abode for Children who are left on this earth to continue to do God's work where Thomas left off. Ask God to guide us all in His will and to help us remember that His ways are above our ways, that we would all discern God's will and trust that all things will work out for the good.
Gospa Missions means "Our Lady's Missions" and Our Lady is not through working for souls by any means. If you feel called to Our Lady Missions, pray earnestly and ask God and Our Lady how they want you to help continue the work begun by Thomas Rutkoski's yes to God's call. Then send an e-mail to jeannine@gospa.org and tell me how God is calling you. Please include your contact information.
Funeral arrangements to be announced as information becomes available.
