| A physical sign that has accompanied Our Lady's apparitions in Fatima and Medjugorje is the miracle of the sun. One can stare into the noon-day sun for long periods of time without any damage to the eye. Some see the sun dance and emanate colors, some see a disc, like a eucharistic host hovering in front of the sun shielding its rays. During the phenomenon, one can stare directly into the overpowering sun for extended periods, even 20 or 30 minutes and longer, while others around them can't even venture to look in the direction of the intense sunlit sky.
