Do you fear so many things in life that you don't have a life? For some, that's a serious question.
The other day a priest spoke about a woman he knew who was full of this kind of trepidation. She had a phobia about germs. Before she would visit friends, she would call to see if anyone in the house (or coming to a party) had any sort of cold or illness. She wouldn't let her kids eat lunch at school for fear of viruses or bacteria, and so would pick them up each lunchtime and take them home to feed them. When folks visited her house and touched the telephone, out would come the Lysol. And it wasn't just germs: she moved her bed from a window for fear an electrical line would fall down and through the glass electrifying her.
This is someone who not only didn't live life to the fullest but didn't live it at all. What she lived was not what God had for her. What she lived had been sent up by her flesh (or the devil). Indeed, one of Satan's greatest tools is fear (when we have fear we have faith in him).
That yields dark forces that feed energy into negativity.
Suddenly fears are realized.
It's a vicious cycle.
