Dear Family of Mary!
"Dear children, I am continuously among you because, with my endless love, I desire to show you the door of Heaven. I desire to tell you how it is opened: through goodness, mercy, love and peace - through my Son. Therefore, my children, do not waste time on vanities. Only knowledge of the love of my Son can save you. Through that salvific love and the Holy Spirit He chose me and I, together with Him, am choosing you to be apostles of His love and will. My children, great is the responsibility upon you. I desire that by your example you help sinners regain their sight, enrich their poor souls and bring them back into my embrace. Therefore, pray, pray, fast and confess regularly. If receiving my Son in the Eucharist is the center of your life then do not be afraid, you can do everything. I am with you. Every day I pray for the shepherds and I expect the same of you. Because, my children, without their guidance and strengthening through their blessing, you cannot do it. Thank you." (June 2, 2012)
Our Lady speaks of the door of Heaven. She wants to show it to us, and tell us how it is opened. This is an extraordinary grace. Haven't souls longed for this knowledge over the centuries? Everyone dreams of finding the door of Heaven and opening it.
As I was praying about Our Lady's great invitation, it occurred to me that the door of Heaven may not be far off, in a place that is hard to reach and difficult to access. It occurred to me that the door of Heaven may be within each of us. That door may be the door of each of our hearts. Our Lady may be showing us that the door of our heart may lead to Heaven if we open it.
Why do I say this? Well, Jesus said something like it in John's Gospel: "Jesus answered him, "If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him" (Jn 14: 23). The Father and the Son will come and make their home with the one who loves them and keeps their word. Where ever the Father and the Son are, there is Heaven. Indeed, to make your home with someone, you have to enter through the door of that home. The Father and the Son will enter the door to the heart that opens to them through faith, and they will make Heaven in that heart.
And Our Lady didn't say anything about going through the door of Heaven, she only promised to show us how to open it! Maybe it is Heaven that will come through that door to us! We only need to discover how to open the door of our heart to Heaven.
St. Faustina wrote about this process:
All grace flows from mercy, and the last hour abounds with mercy for us. Let no one doubt concerning the goodness of God; even if a person's sins were as dark as night, God's mercy is stronger than our misery. One thing alone is necessary: that the sinner set ajar the door of his heart, be it ever so little, to let in a ray of God's merciful grace, and then God will do the rest. But poor is the soul who has shut the door on God's mercy, even at the last hour. It was just such souls who plunged Jesus into deadly sorrow in the Garden of Olives: indeed, it was from His Most Merciful Heart that divine mercy flowed out. (Diary, 1507)
There we have it! God waits at the door of each heart, with His Divine Mercy, His Forgiveness, His Love, His Goodness and His Peace. He waits at that door for it to open, even a crack. And if it does, He floods that heart with Heaven. So what opens such a heart? The grace of conversion, the grace of falling in love with Jesus. That is what will open the door of Heaven. The grace of surrender to the great Lover of Mankind, Jesus! That is how the door of Heaven is opened, because that is how the door of our heart opens. It opens through love, through trust, through desire.
We need this grace, each of us, to respond to the one who knocks on the door of our heart waiting to enter. We need the grace to open the door to Him. He is Heaven!
Jesus says to us: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me" (Rev. 3:20). Jesus stands at the door of our heart, He knocks, He waits, He respects our freedom, and He longs for us. He longs to enter our hearts and bring Heaven with Him. The door is there but only we can open it, because our heart is sacred space. It is where we are king; no one can force entry into our heart. We must open the door.
Mother, show us the door to our heart and show us how to open it, to let the King enter in.
