Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
Dear Friends,
Some months ago, a new translation of the prayers for Mass was introduced into the Catholic Church. One change that many noticed is in the Canon of the Mass, the priest now says, “this is my blood poured out for many.” The previous prayer said, "poured out for all.”
Pope Benedict wrote a letter to the German bishops, affirming that it should be for many, since this is what the gospels of Mark and Matthew record. Does this mean that Jesus Christ did not die for all? No, His salvation is for everyone, and that is Good News indeed. But perhaps by saying for many, we are reminded that not everyone will automatically achieve salvation. We must do our part in cooperating with the saving grace and love of God, by showing love for God and neighbor.

Lord Jesus Christ, You gave us the Eucharist as the memorial of Your suffering and death. May our worship of this sacrament of Your body and blood help us to experience the salvation You won for us and the peace of the kingdom where You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Amen
