"This is My Body...This is my Blood..."
March 28, 2013
Holy Thursday
Dear Family of Mary!
"Tonight also, dear children, I am grateful to you in a special way for being here. Unceasingly adore the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar. I am always present when the faithful are adoring. Special graces are then being received." (March 15,1984)
Tonight we live again the Institution of the Eucharist, the gift of Jesus' Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the form of bread and wine. It is an astounding gift that leaves all of heaven in awe. Yet it is such a hidden gift, that only faith can perceive it on earth. Jesus' love is incomprehensible.
If we understood the reality of the Eucharist, we would never leave the Tabernacle, so astounded would we be. And Mother Mary tells us that we need to adore the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar unceasingly. But how can we do this, when we have lives to live, service to do, physical needs, etc.?
I believe this is a matter of the heart. We can train the eyes of our hearts to remain glued to the Tabernacle, and rest in the presence of the Lord in the Eucharist, interiorly. St. Faustina once wrote of this kind of adoration:
80. O Jesus, Divine Prisoner of Love, when I consider Your love and how You emptied Yourself for me, my senses fail me. You hide Your inconceivable majesty and lower Yourself to miserable me. O King of Glory, though You hide Your beauty, yet the eye of my soul rends the veil. I see the angelic choirs giving You honor without cease, and all the heavenly Powers praising You without cease, and without cease they are saying: Holy, Holy, Holy. Oh, who will comprehend Your love and Your unfathomable mercy toward us!
O Prisoner of Love, I lock up my poor heart in this tabernacle, that it may adore You without cease night and day. I know of no obstacle in this adoration, and even though I be physically distant, my heart is always with You. Nothing can put a stop to my love for You. No obstacles exist for me. O my Jesus, I will console You for all the ingratitude, the blasphemies, the coldness, the hatred of the wicked, the sacrileges. O Jesus, I want to burn as 'a pure offering and to be consumed before the throne of Your hiddenness. I plead with You unceasingly for poor dying sinners. (Diary, 80)
Nothing could put a stop to St. Faustina's love for Jesus. May we be as unstoppable in our love and adoration for Jesus in the Eucharist. We all feel it keenly when Jesus' Eucharistic presence is truly hidden for Good Friday and Holy Saturday. We feel the vacuum, the emptiness! But it is only a short time, and makes our hearts more fond, full of love for Jesus, our Eucharistic Lord.
Thank you, dear Lord Jesus, for instituting this unimaginable Sacrament, the Sacrament of your very Person residing here with us on earth, as our King and our Hope.
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
