Wrecking Ball Poised
HELP #SAVETHESHRINE

A beloved landmark 1923 Catholic church in a distressed neighborhood next to the University of Chicago has been slated for the wrecking ball.
After a devastating fire destroyed the new roof of the Shrine of Christ the King in October 2015, a broad 'Coalition to Save the Shrine' --  parishioners, preservationists and neighborhood people together -- raised enough money (more than $600K) to stabilize this church, where the Institute of Christ the King offers the traditional Latin Mass every day.
But the Archdiocese has just received approval for their demolition order, "without delay."
Time is of the essence.
