SCRIPTURE COMMENTARY # 328

And they came to Capernaum: and when he was in the house he asked them, "What were ye reasoning in the way?" But they held their peace: for they had disputed one with another in the way, who was the greatest. And he sat down, and called the twelve; and he saith unto them, "If any man would be first, he shall be last of all, and minister of all." (Mark 9:33-35)

HUMILITY is a beautiful and necessary virtue. He who wishes to be a follower of Jesus must renounce pride and be humble of heart. The more humble a man is, the more worthy is he in the sight of God. Mary, Joseph, Peter, and all those to whom such high offices were given, were especially distinguished for their deep humility.
