Quote:
And a voice came from the heavens, saying,
"This is my beloved Son,
with whom I am well pleased."
Matthew 3:17
Meditation:
Where was Our Lord just prior to His baptism?
The baptism of the Lord marks the beginning of His public ministry and the close of the hidden life of thirty years. The Lord knows He will go out into the desert for forty days. Still to come are the disciples, the public ministry, and the public miracles. What occurred between Our Lord and Our Lady just prior to His baptism?
"Jesus had now attained His thirtieth year. The Virgin Mother, who had reached the height of her love for Him, was one day raised to a state of sublime contemplation, when she heard a voice from the throne of God, which said: 'Mary, My daughter and My spouse offer Me thy Son in sacrifice.' The obedient Mary immediately did so with such great and inexpressible intensity of love that this sacrifice was incomparably more agreeable to God than that of Abraham, or all others that had been offered to Him."

Venerable Mary of Agreda then goes on to say:
"Jesus presented Himself to beg her permission to accomplish in favor of men all that she knew God had imposed on Him, promising to return again and take her with Him to be the companion of His labors. The Holy Virgin cast herself at His feet." Frequently, Venerable Mary of Agreda depicts the Lord turning to His Mother to ask permission.

Resolution:
In my Rosary today, I will reflect on the many times that the Blessed Virgin Mary chose to offer her Son (chose the Cross) and conformed herself to the Will of God.
Annunciation
Presentation
Flight into Egypt, Remaining in Egypt,
Loss in the Temple
Beginning the public ministry
The First miracle at Cana
The Way of the Cross
Patiently waiting for the Resurrection
Marian Vow:
Venerable Solanus Casey, a Franciscan Capuchin encouraged the reading of venerable Mary of Agreda's (also a Franciscan), The Mystical City of God.
Father Peter Fehlner, FI has a video clip at AirMaria discussing Ven. Mary of Agreda and Vatican II.
I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Thanks be to God for graces received.
