Topic: Advent and True Devotion to Mary

Quote:
Caryll Houselander
"During Advent Christ rested in Mary still, silent, helpless, utterly dependent. The Creator trusted Himself to His creature."
Wood of the Cradle; Wood of the Cross

Meditation:
During this Advent, how can I be still, silent, helpless and utterly dependent upon the Blessed Virgin Mary in imitation of Christ? I will try to allow Our Lady to take me where she wants to go. I will try to serve her on her terms   even if this should mean enduring a trial for her sake.

St. Louis de Montfort
"A true client of Mary does not serve that august Queen from a spirit of lucre and interest, nor for his own good, whether temporal or eternal, corporal or spiritual, but exclusively because she deserves to be served, and God alone in her. He does not love Mary just because she obtains favors for him, or because he hopes she will, but solely because she is so worthy of love. It is on this account that he loves and serves her as faithfully in his disgusts and dryness as in his sweetness and sensible fervors. He loves her as much on Calvary as at the marriage of Cana".
True Devotion to Mary,  (Tan Books: 1985),  67.  (on line: #110)

Resolution:
Periodically today, especially when I see the Advent wreath, I will ask Our Lady:
Have I been your docile instrument today?
Have I allowed you to "carry me" where you will in accepting the ordinary trials of the day in patience?

Marian Vow:
St. Louis de Montfort
"Oh, but my labor will have been well expended if this little writing, falling into the hands of a soul of good dispositions a soul well-born of God and of Mary, and not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man (Jn 1:13) should unfold to him, and should by the grace of the Holy Ghost inspire him with the excellence and the value of that true and solid devotion to Our Blessed Lady which I am going presently to describe."
True Devotion to Mary,  (Tan Books: 1985),  68. (on line: #112)

I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Thanks be to God for graces received.
