“Moms fund billboard evangelism”

Current Information

Denver Post Reports on Medjugorje Billboard

The following newspaper article titled, “Moms fund billboard evangelism” appeared over the weekend in the Denver Post. Through the billboards of Our Lady a grace has caused many to come back into the church, nonbelievers come to believe and many have been introduced to Medjugorje, Our Lady and Her plans for the world in “Her time.” No other Medjugorje project introduces on a daily basis more people who know nothing about Medjugorje than Caritas’ Medjugorje billboard project, “This is Her Time.” The Denver Post article shows how easy it is to place a billboard:

Call it a random act of evangelism.

Nine Catholic mothers in their late 20s to mid-40s, who meet monthly to pray the rosary, helped raise $1,000 to put up two billboards in the Denver area.

Blessed Mother looks down at traffic from two panels, 14 feet by 48 feet, on eastbound Interstate 76 just past the Pecos exit and on northbound South Santa Fe Drive at Iowa Ave.

The billboards, almost two weeks old, are slated to remain up at least through mid-November.

“This is My Time,” reads the legend next to an image of Mary, Mother of God. Underneath are listed a website, Mej.com, and a telephone number, directing people to a mission called Caritas of Birmingham in Alabama.

Caritas is dedicated to informing people of the supernatural appearances of Blessed Mother to six people at Medjugorje in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The Marian apparitions supposedly began in 1981, n what was then Yugoslavia, and have continued, for some of the visionaries, to this day. “Mary is trying to call us all back to Jesus,” said Silja Haagenson, a prayer group member.

The Catholic Church has not officially recognized the apparitions at Medjugorje, as it did at Fatima and Lourdes, but millions of faithful have made pilgrimages there over the past three decades.

The local billboards are part of a national campaign in which Catholics have funded 800 billboards in 30 states.

“It’s just a gentle reminder of this amazing event occurring now in the world,” said Lisa Fixler, a Denver mother of three who formerly worked in broadcast media sales.

“Our prayer group does have a special devotion to Our Lady of Medjugorje,” she said.

The prayer group, which includes stay-at-home moms, a nurse, women with doctorates and businesswomen, took eight days, with the help of another prayer group, to raise the cash for printing and shipping the artwork. The women were able to obtain “remnant” or free, unused billboard space.

“We really don’t know how it’s doing,” Fixler said of the billboard effort. “It’s pretty random. We just have to trust that some people are seeing it and investigating Medjugorje for themselves.”

She said a few months ago she never would have anticipated this course of action. Group members became aware of the billboard campaign and jumped on.

“God is driving the bus here,” Fixler said. “It just felt like a higher power was making it happen.”

“…I invite you to become missionaries of my messages…”

Take action. Do what Our Lady requests. Spread Her love by introducing millions to Her. A whole support structure is organized just for this. This is my time. Those who see mej.com can easily remember the web name even traveling at 70mph, and after arriving to their office or home, see the billboard on the home page, click it and receive free downloadable conversion material. Others call in by the phone number and are mailed free booklets and other conversion material. This program is long term and will be extensively supported by Caritas and Medjugorje.com to bring countless people to Our Lady and conversion!! All you have to do is sponsor a board. You can do so by visiting this page to sponsor a billboard.

A Few Letters of Testimony:

Dear Caritas,

I am so excited to send this. Our prayer group raised enough money for a billboard. This is our first one. We hope to be able to continue to do more.

Dear Friends in Jesus and Mary,

It is in my constant prayers for Mary’s image on all the billboards to draw many to Jesus and Her! It was Mary’s eyes on the image on Wayne Wieble’s book, Medjugorje: The Message that captured me many years ago!

Hello, This is really a very good advertisement. This is Mama Mary's time so she should be known worldwide. If somebody will check the Medjugorge site, they will get hooked to the site and will be reading non stop and their days will never be complete without visiting the site and have a read thru of Mama Mary's genuine messages. I would like to know how to advertise this in our own city. Please advise. Thanks, Cathy
