December 27, 2010 Saint John Dear Family of Mary! "Dear children! Today, I and my Son desire to give you an abundance of joy and peace so that each of you may be a joyful carrier and witness of peace and joy in the places where you live. Little children, be a blessing and be peace. Thank you for having responded to my call." (December 25, 2010) First of all, this message delivers a beautiful reality. This message comes from both Jesus and Mary! Our Lady tells us "Today, I and my Son desire to give you..." Jesus speaks in union with His Mother to each of us! Are we not the most blessed of children! And what is it that Jesus and Mary wish to say to us? "Today, I and my Son desire to give you an abundance of joy and peace..." They want to pour down a surfeit of peace and joy upon us, a plenitude, an overflow of grace! Lots and lots and lots of peace and joy! Oh how we need this tremendous gift. We live in a world of woes, with terrible news coming at us every day, with fears within and without, with difficulties and travails. But, in the midst of all this Our Lord and Our Lady want to fill us with joy and peace. This is an attractive idea, but will it really happen? It occurred to me that Our Lady did not just mention this desire, she also conferred it upon us. I think the last sentence of the message is not a command, it is a conferral. Our Lady spoke the words of blessing over us, "Little children, be a blessing and be peace." We have only to say "yes" to this blessing, to say "amen". As we do we will receive it, really and truly. We are being given the blessing of peace and joy, the infilling of the Holy Spirit that will make us peace and blessing for others. The key is to receive the anointing, to receive the gift, to open our hearts and let it in. The words have been spoken. Let us respond. Let us receive! In Jesus and Mary! Cathy Nolan |
