Dear Family of Mary,
"Dear children! Also today I am with you and I call all of you to renew yourselves by living my messages. Little children, may prayer be life for you and may you be an example to others. Little children, I desire for you to become carriers of peace and of God's joy to today's world without peace. That is why, little children, pray, pray, pray! I am with you and I bless you with my motherly peace. Thank you for having responded to my call." (October 25, 1997)
As we approach Lent, 2012, it might be good for us to focus on the main messages Our Lady has given us. She has called these simple but powerful messages "the seeds of holiness" (Oct. 10, 1985). Perhaps a little review of the main messages would help us to approach Lent with a stronger sense of how to live it!
I was struck by Ivan's short list of the main messages, given on January 31, 2012 in Kalamazoo:
What are those things to which our Mother is calling us? What are those most important messages by which Our Lady is leading us? You know that throughout these 30 years Our Lady has given us very many messages. But if we were to focus just on the most important messages, I would like to emphasize these messages by which Our Lady is guiding us:
Peace Conversion Prayer of the Heart Penance and Fasting Strong Faith Love Eucharist Forgiveness Confession The Message of HOPE
These are the most important messages through which Our Lady is guiding us. (From the transcript of Ivan's talk in Kalamazoo, Michigan on 1/31/12)
This list is very familiar to us. But if we take a look at each message in light of our own lives, our living out of these calls, we may find there is more we can do! There may be much more grace we can receive!
Take "peace" for instance. Peace is one of the most prominent messages from Our Lady of Medjugorje. Ivan reports that on June 25, 1981, Our Lady said to the six visionaries, "I am the Queen of Peace. And I have come, my dear children because God has sent me. My dear children, peace, peace, and only peace. There must be peace, my dear children. Peace must reign between God and man and between people. My dear children, this world and this humanity is finding itself in a great danger. There is a threat that it will destroy itself."
"Peace, peace and only peace!" Obviously peace is at the top of Our Lady's list, just as it is first on Ivan's! Why? She told the children that there was a threat that we in this world would destroy ourselves, for lack of peace. The world is in danger. This is why she has come to us, to avert the danger, to rescue her children, to change the course of history, to bring peace.
And so Mother Mary calls us to live peace.
Let's begin to prepare for Lent. Tomorrow we will talk more about peace. We will listen to what Our Lady has said to us about peace over the years, and reflect on our own lives in terms of peace.
I hope this won't be too boring, but I feel a need to get back to basics with Our Lady's messages. They bring such life.
God bless all of you, Cathy Nolan Mary TV |
