SCRIPTURE COMMENTARY #170

"He therefore that shall break one of these least commandments, and shall so teach men shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But he that shall do and teach, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." (Matt. 5:19)

THE MORAL LAW OF JESUS CHRIST is a perfect law, because it forbids evil thoughts and words as well as evil deeds. It requires not only an outward observance of commandments, but also an inward amendment, sanctification, and elevation of the soul.

[From 'A Practical Commentary on Holy Scripture' by Bishop Knecht, D.D.]
