Mary Vitamin for St. Joseph the Worker
(Usually May 1st)

Topic
: Our Lady and Saint Joseph

Quote:
“Our Lady, with only one word, could have clarified the doubt of St. Joseph. But in her humility, she decided not to reveal the great things God was working in her.”
Father Gabriel M. Pelletieri, FI, Who is Mary, (Academy of the Immaculate), 34.

Meditation:
“St. Joseph understood immediately that he was facing a great mystery. The evident state of pregnancy of our Blessed Lady would have pushed him to doubt the honesty of his Spouse. But, the holiness, the enchanting purity and simplicity of Our Lady, made him exclude any possible unfaithfulness or suspicion in her….
Withholding any judgment, he decided to cover with silence what his own mind was not able to understand.”
Father Gabriel M. Pelletieri, FI, Who is Mary?, (Academy of the Immaculate), 35.

Resolution:
Our Lady and St. Joseph both responded with silence to allow God’s plans to be manifested. Today, I will try to respond with silence to imitate Our Lady and St. Joseph.
St. Maximilian left the following notes on silence:
“Avoid all those words which can draw down on you glory, esteem or the appreciation of others. […]
Rejoice when you hear others praised.
Don’t offer excuses when you make a mistake.
Don’t cast the blame on others.
Do not offend by sarcasm those who correct you.
Do not renounce in advance your errors which someone is trying to point out to you.”
Father Anselm W. Romb, OFM Conv., The Kolbe Reader, (Marytown Press), 3.

Marian Vow:
Our Lady called Herself “the handmaiden of the Lord.” She understands what it means to be the slave and property of God. In the Marian vow we turn ourselves over to Our Lady to be transformed into Her.
“Before God, she considered herself a ‘slave’, a ‘servant.’ Consequently she was not able nor did she desire to anticipate the will of her Heavenly Father, rather she preferred to let God Himself choose the time and the manner most suitable for revealing the secrets that she was hiding in her Heart to St. Joseph.
Father Gabriel M. Pelletieri, FI, Who is Mary?, (Academy of the Immaculate), 35.

I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Thanks be to God for graces received.

Please no anonymous comments. I require at least some way for people to address each other personally and courteously. Having some name or handle helps.
