Islam and Mary
According to the President Emeritus of the Pontifical Council for Culture and the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, Cardinal Paul Poupard, Mary is a bridge for ecumenical and interreligious dialogue.
"As for interreligious relations, ecumenical more than interreligious, contrary to what one usually thinks and says, Mary is a bridge. I was made sure of this when I recently went with Pope Benedict on his historic trip to Turkey. We were traveling between Ankara and Istanbul and went to Mariamen, to the home of the mother, and the majority of the people who go there are Muslim women. Mothers go there to present their children and commend them to the Madonna."
The French Cardinal explains that Mary is a point of union.
"This is the marvel of the mother who unites us all."
