Mary Vitamin for January 1
Topic: The Holy Mother of God
Quote:
John Paul II
"Entering the new year, let us ask this holy Mother to bless us. Let us ask Her to give us Jesus, our full Blessing, in whom the Father blessed all history once and for all, making it become the history of salvation."
Homily of John Paul II, Tuesday January 1st 2002
Meditation:
Father Stefano Manelli, FI
"[W]e can say that all the Marian devotion of the Saints has had its particular expressions of intense filial love for her as their 'dearest Mother' (St. Maximilian Kolbe), 'good Mother' (St. Margaret M. Alacoque), 'precious Mother' (St. Veronica Giuliani),
Beautiful Mother' (St. Bertilla), 'beloved Mother' (St. Alphonsus Liguori), in a word 'my Mamma' (St. Paul of the Cross, St. Gemma and many others).”
Father Manelli, Devotion to Our Lady, (Academy of the Immaculate), 8.
Resolution:
Today, on the feast of the Holy Mother of God and as the
first day of a new calendar year, I resolve to take the Blessed
Virgin Mary as truly my Mother. I will think of this through
the day: when I pray the Angelus, see Her image, pray the
Rosary, notice my scapular, and touch my Miraculous
Medal.
Marian Vow:
Pope Benedict XVI
"Let us begin this new year, therefore, by looking at Mary whom we received from God's hands as a precious 'talent' to be made fruitful, a providential opportunity to contribute to bringing about the Kingdom of God.”
Homily of Pope Benedict XVI from January 1st, 2007
St. Peter’s Basilica
I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Thanks be to God for graces received.
