Mary is the Mother of All Priests:

Medjugorje Witness

Our Lady just last Friday night on Apparition Mountain asked us to pray for priests and She asks for these prayers quite often during Her apparitions to Ivan, and during Her second of the month apparitions to Mirjana, on the day for nonbelievers. Father Leo Flynn, a priest from Ireland working in Nigeria, gave a homily in St. James Church regarding the priesthood and its institution. Here is what Fr. Flynn said in part:

“Today I’d like to say a few things about the priesthood. We have two choices. With all that’s going on in our world at this time, you can listen to the media, or you can listen to Jesus.

“Jesus said that He came to the earth to bring truth. He said, ‘I Am the Way, the Truth and the Life.’ Jesus was the first priest and He became a priest in the womb of His Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary by the Holy Spirit.

“The priests here on the altar and myself share in the priesthood of Jesus. (The Scripture tells us), a priest is a man taken from amongst men and ordained a priest so he may offer gifts and sacrifices for sinners. Jesus did that, no greater sacrifice than for Him to lay down His Life for His friends. God so loved us that He gave us His Beloved Son, so that anyone who believes in Him will have eternal life.

“Jesus told his apostles that His desire was to share the Passover Supper with them before He was to suffer. He went inside where the supper was laid and took bread and gave His Blessing. He broke the bread and said to them, ‘Take this all of you and eat it, this is My Body.’ He took the chalice with wine and said, ‘Take this all of you and drink, this is the cup of My Blood, the Blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of Me’ He tells the apostles to do what He had just done, to change ordinary bread and wine into His Body and Blood. He gave them this power and established Ordination by ordaining them as priests and bishops. They were also given the power by Jesus to ordain other priests. He loved them and prayed for them and said, ‘You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you.’

“At the foot of the Cross, Jesus tells His Mother, ‘Behold your son.’ And to Saint John, representing not only all people, but all priests, ‘Son, behold your Mother.’

Father Flynn stressed his point, that Mary is not only the Mother of all mankind, but particularly, the Mother of all priests as St. John was in fact at the foot of the Cross already ordained a priest and bishop.

“On Easter Sunday evening Jesus came into the Upper Room and said to His apostles, ‘Peace be with you.’ He promised to send the Holy Spirit. He told them to go out and spread the Gospel truth among all men. Also, that whose sins they forgave would be forgiven and whose sins were retained would be retained. This was the institution of the Sacrament of Confession and Reconciliation.”

Father Flynn ended his homily, echoing the call of Our Lady by saying that the pilgrims here in Medjugorje, should use their time in Medjugorje for prayer, which would open their hearts to the mercy of Jesus and to take the opportunity to go to Confession while here, and offered every pilgrim an examination of conscience to use for preparation.

In light of Our Lady’s recent messages, and Her call to pray in a special way for priests, this time is an excellent time to offer prayers for all priests throughout the world.
