From John Renshaw:
FOUNDER OF THE WORLD WIDE ORDER OF PALLOTTINE PRIESTS Humble son of a humble merchant. Truly, among other things, a
patron saint for grocerymen and their employees!
The above painting was used by St. Vincent Pallotti in his
ministry in 19th Century Italy with great effectiveness. He was
a devotee to the Holy Rosary, and was the founder of the
Pallottine order of priests. In the first half of the 19th
Century, Italy was a place of great internal fragmentation and
with much civil unrest. Pallotti was a source of peace, calm,
and compassion. He is the patron saint of Catholic Action. Truly a man also for our current times as well.

I have had a strong devotion to Saint Vincent since about 1970. I used to go on retreat at the Pallantine Fathers Retreat House in Bayshore, L.I., New York with our group called 'The Workers of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.' I always ask St. Vincent to pray for me and obtain the grace to be like him as a good apostle of Our Lord Jesus Christ and have ardent zeal to propagate the Messages of Our Lady!
I was young and full of zeal for Jesus & Mary! Everywhere I went in my business, (I had a sales route to grocery stores) I would try to explain the Faith to those who would listen. It was a great time of my life.
One thing that always stayed in my mind was that St. Vincent would go through the streets of Rome and when he saw someone selling a pornographic painting, he would buy it and burn it in front of the person; reminding the seller of the Virtue of Purity. I always wanted to do that with the neighborhood porn shops but never really had the courage! I guess that's why he's the saint and I'm not!
Thanks John for the memories!
