Citing of the Week
"Where difference is unacceptable, structures and relationships become brittle, ossified, fragile. Church can lose resiliency, even shatter."

FEAST OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY
Heaven knows
A woman suddenly lost her 25-year-old daughter and was devastated, then a few years later the loss of her husband left her feeling as though every day were torture. What keeps her going is the hope that one day she will be with her spouse and child in paradise. Like all of us, she wonders what heaven will be like. We have a story of Jesus challenged by Sadducees asking him whose wife a woman would be in the resurrection because she had been widowed seven times. A trick question? Perhaps, but however we imagine heaven to be, what we should keep in mind during November as we focus on our beloved dead is that we who mourn are promised comfort by Jesus who is with us always.

“His not God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.”
