Autumn
Dear Friends,
I very much enjoyed my many years in Africa. I appreciated the warm and hot weather, and the two annual seasons, namely the rainy and the dry seasons. But I did miss two of the four seasons - autumn and winter. We did have some autumn colors as we moved to the dry season, but nothing like the blazing colors of New England and New York.
Do we take some time out to enjoy the autumn splendor? Things slow down a bit, as the cool, clear weather prepares us for the coming winter. Should we not take a few moments to reflect on how God is with us in every season? How God is in charge of the four seasons and guides us through the changes, continually bringing life where there has been decay and death?
As we enter into the most colorful and beautiful season of autumn, here is a brief prayer that thanks God for His providential care.

Jesusthereasonfortheseason-wa

Most gracious God, we thank and praise You for the return of seedtime and harvest, for the gathering of the fruits, and for all the other blessings Your merciful providence bestowed on our nation and people. We ask You to give us a just sense of Your mercies such as may appear in our lives by a humble, holy and obedient walking before You all our days. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
