St. Januarius

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! Also today I am with you in prayer so that God gives you an even stronger faith. Little children, your faith is small and you are not even aware how much, despite this, you are not ready to seek the gift of faith from God. That is why I am with you, little children, to help you comprehend my messages and put them into life. Pray, pray, pray and only in faith and through prayer your soul will find peace and the world will find joy to be with God. Thank you for having responded to my call." (August 25, 2002)

Faith is one of the main messages given to us by Our Lady in Medjugorje. She has come to help us grow in faith. "Also today I am with you in prayer so that God gives you an even stronger faith." . Indeed, in Medjugorje countless souls have received faith and are now living lives of faith because of the graces Mary has given them. (Mary TV's new program, Fruit of Medjugorje, shares story after story about the gift of faith received in Medjugorje. Watch it at www.marytv.tv every Monday and Thursday.) And once we receive the grace of faith, she wants our living faith to be a light for others who have no faith. She wants our faith to reveal to others the God we love and trust.

Our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, has announced a "Year of Faith" beginning on October 11, 2012. In his Apostolic Letter he encourages the Church to look to our forefathers in the faith as our examples, learning from them how to base our lives on the Rock. He mentions Mary as a supreme example of faith and suggests we contemplate her life in terms of faith, using several scriptures. What a wonderful way to "ponder" Mary's life, as an exemplar of faith:

By faith, Mary accepted the Angel's word and believed the message that she was to become the Mother of God in the obedience of her devotion (cf. Lk 1:38). Visiting Elizabeth, she raised her hymn of praise to the Most High for the marvels he worked in those who trust him (cf. Lk 1:46-55). With joy and trepidation she gave birth to her only son, keeping her virginity intact (cf. Lk 2:6-7). Trusting in Joseph, her husband, she took Jesus to Egypt to save him from Herod's persecution (cf. Mt 2:13-15). With the same faith, she followed the Lord in his preaching and remained with him all the way to Golgotha (cf. Jn 19:25-27). By faith, Mary tasted the fruits of Jesus' resurrection, and treasuring every memory in her heart (cf. Lk 2:19, 51), she passed them on to the Twelve assembled with her in the Upper Room to receive the Holy Spirit (cf. Acts 1:14; 2:1-4). (Apostolic Letter "Motu Proprio Data" Porta Fidei of the Supreme Pontiff Benedict XVI for the Indiction of the Year of Faith. N.13)  http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/benedict_xvi/motu_proprio/documents/hf_ben-xvi_motu-proprio_20111011_porta-fidei_en.html

I am excited to see the fruits of this Year of Faith. I believe that Our Lady of Medjugorje is very much involved in this initiative, and that she is with us to help us receive a deeper faith in God. This renewed gift of faith is going to prepare us to win many battles in the days ahead, for the sake of souls. Thank you, Mary, and thank you, Pope Benedict, for preparing us!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
