Dear Family of Mary!

(We had a big storm in Indiana on Sunday, and I had no internet connection, so I am sending out this reflection which was intended for November 18. But I think it is worth sending for today!)

"Dear children! Today I call you to place more blessed objects in your homes and that everyone put some blessed objects on their person. Bless all the objects and thus Satan will attack you less because you will have armor against Him. Thank you for having responded to my call." (July 18, 1985)

Last night a very dangerous storm passed through our area. There were very strong winds and rain, even tornadoes nearby. A few years ago I learned that we can pray for protection during storms. We can ask the Father in the name of Jesus to bind any evil spirits that may be present in the storm, that they may not use the storm for any evil purpose. So I prayed that prayer as the storm approached, and used Holy Water to bless our home. The storm did no damage, and we didn't lose power, though in our area thousands of homes are without power.  (But we did lose internet!)

I praise God for His protection, and I do not take it for granted. All things work for the good, and so sometimes I am sure we will not get by so easily, but this time we were spared. Maybe it is because He wants us to pray the Rosary online today!!

Well, anyway, when I sat down to write the reflection for today, I pulled a message from my box of messages, and got the message quoted above. It seemed to confirm my prayer for protection, and the power of blessed objects. Holy water is very powerful as a protection!

I think Our Lady wants us to be reminded today to wear blessed objects at all times. Crucifixes, medals, scapulars, and rosaries, when they are blessed by a priest, carry with them a special power. The enemy is repelled by them, because they are marked by the Lord.

Such blessed objects not only carry the power of their blessing, but they also remind us of our position in the battle we are in. We are part of a powerful army, the Church militant. We live in a battle zone, planet earth. And we are members of the Body of Christ. We stand against evil with Jesus, our Leader!

As St. Paul reminds us:

Finally be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace; above all taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit which is the word of God. Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplications. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints... (Eph 6:10-19)

What a beautiful Scripture! We can learn so much from St. Paul's words. They remind me of the main messages of Our Lady. That may be for a later reflection!

At any rate, let's not ignore Our Lady's advice. In our everyday battle, we need to carry blessed objects and bless our homes with Holy Water.   The blessing of the priest will go with us, and we will carry the peace of God with us as well.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
