The One Time God Tells Us to Challenge Him
There is one time in the whole Bible where God uses the phrase put Me
to the test. In the Book of Malachi, God asks the Israelites to give
Him one tenth of what they earn. He says to them: ”Test Me in this…see
if I will not throw open the floodgates of Heaven and pour out so much
blessing that you will not have room enough for it.” Why does God do
this? Because in His infinite Wisdom, He knows once you begin to trust
in Him and in His goodness and start giving, He can draw you closer to
Him and challenge you to be a giver like He is. As you start to receive
blessings, He teaches you that to give is better than to receive and to
give without measuring is what He did and does. Our love grows with
His grace so we can be like Him, because we want to love Him as He loves
us. Do we love Him enough to trust Him? Lord, help Me…outdo me in
generosity.
