An initiative of the Mary of Nazareth Association August 21 – Our Lady of Knock (Ireland, 1879) – The Virgin of the Golden Heart (Beauraing, Belgium) The Virgin Mary appeared 33 times in Beauraing The church of the Marian Shrine of Beauraing, Belgium, was elevated to the rank of a basilica on August 22, 2013. The village of Beauraing was the site of 33 Marian apparitions in the winter of 1932-1933. From November 29th to January 3rd, the Virgin Mary appeared there to five children, Fernande, Gilberte and Albert Voisin, and Andrée and Gilberte Degeimbre. During these apparitions, the Virgin presented herself with her heart all lit up like a heart of gold. Hence the name of Our Lady of Beauraing as "The Lady with the Golden Heart." The Virgin Mary asked the children to build a "chapel" and also to come there on pilgrimage. "Pray, pray a lot," she insisted. At her last apparition, Mary revealed: "I am the Mother of God, Queen of heaven." Each year for the feast of the Queenship of Mary on August 22, an international pilgrimage is organized in Beauraing. Bishop André-Marie Charue, the bishop of Namur, authorized the devotion to Our Lady of Beauraing on February 2, 1943, and six years later, on July 2, 1949, the supernatural character of the events was approved.
