The Exaltation of the Holy CrossDear Family of Mary!"I am with you, and every day I bless you with my motherly blessing, so that God may fill you with the abundance of his grace for your daily life. Thank God for the gift that I can be with you, because I tell you: this is a great grace."(September 25, 1992) Yesterday we heard Ivan's recollection of the day, June 24, 1981, when Our Lady first appeared to the children in Medjugorje. He was giving us a walking tour of his little neighborhood, where these events happened. It was amazing to be with him there. Here is the end of that sharing, in which Ivan talks about the second day, June 25, when Our Lady actually spoke with the young people. This is the day we now celebrate as the anniversary date of the apparitions: "The next day (2nd day) people came from everywhere asking us questions and protecting us from the police. People were with us all day. Around 3 pm the people with us all day said, 'Let's go to the place where you saw Our Lady. Let's go see if she left something there.' So we went in groups separately so the police would not recognize us. We were there about 20 minutes when we all just spontaneously went and climbed the hill and Our Lady was there waiting for us, smiling with the Baby Jesus in her hand. She was motioning with her other hand for us to come closer. My legs froze. Her power was stronger than mine. With her power it was like we were flying up the mountain through bushes, over rocks, and through thorn bushes to Our Lady with no pain. Our Lady put her right hand on our heads because baby Jesus was in her left arm and she said, 'Dear children, I am with you. I am your mother. Don't be afraid. I will protect you and guide you.' "It was very hard for us to calm down and pull ourselves together. It was hard to come back. Vicka asked the Lady what her name was and the Lady said, 'I am the Queen of Peace. I come because I was sent by my Son, dear children. He wants to help you. Peace. Peace. Peace. Only peace! Peace must reign in the world. Only peace! There is great danger. Man is in great danger of destroying himself. Man threatens to self destruct.' These were her first words. "That day we recognized our Mother in her, we talked to her, but were still very shy. Now only three of us have an apparition every day - Vicka, Marija, and me." (Ivan's testimony on August 3, 2010 in Medjugorje) As we see, Our Lady came to help us find peace in this world of danger. She came to protect and lead her children to peace. As she said in 1992, "Thank God for the gift that I can be with you, because I tell you: this is a great grace." As we listened to Ivan share about the momentous events of June 24 -25, 1981, we were impressed with the gravity and enormity of that moment. Through these young visionaries, we were given a new opportunity to find God and to connect with Him. Through their innocent and honest testimony of their experiences with Our Lady, we have been given the chance to grasp the hand of Our Lady and walk with her towards peace. What a blessed time we are in! What a time of grace! On this day when we celebrate the Triumph of the Cross, exalting in the Lord Jesus, who died for us, we can thank Him for allowing Our Lady to be with us in these days of danger. It is through His sacrifice of love that we now can walk with Mother Mary towards peace. Thank you, Jesus, for salvation. Thank you, Mother, for your helping hand, leading us to that salvation in Christ. Thank you, Father, for Your loving plan for us in these days. Thank you!!! In Jesus and Mary!
