Mary TV Daily Reflection 9/23/10

The Lamb of God

September 23, 2010
St. Pio of Pietrelcina

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children!

Today again I thank you for all that you have accomplished for me in these days.  Especially, dear children, I thank you in the Name of Jesus for the sacrifices which you offered in this past week.  Dear children, you are forgetting that I desire sacrifices from you so I can help you and drive Satan away from you.  Therefore, I am calling you again to offer sacrifices with a special reverence toward God.  Thank you for having responded to my call."  (September 18, 1986)

I don't think we realize the power that lies latent in our lives.  In our littleness and dependency upon God, we are endowed with incredible power.  It is the power of sacrifice.  We can choose to live our lives in the image of Jesus, the Lamb of God.  We can decide to accept our little lives, broken and humble as they may be, and in that acceptance, we can offer them up as a sacrifice to the Father.  We can say, like Jesus, "Father, if thou art willing, remove this cup from me; nevertheless not my will, but Thine, be done."(Luke 22:42)

When we lay down our wills and take up the Father's will for us, when we accept the life we have been given and surrender it to the Father, we become little lambs like Jesus.  We become sacrifices of love to the Father.  And in that sacrifice, we call down the power of heaven upon the world.  God can do deeds of power through our surrender.  He can change hearts, free spirits, correct wills, and convert sinners through our sacrifice and intercession.  But the power we call down is an invisible power.  We may never see its action directly.  It may not be until heaven that the true impact of our sacrifices will be understood.  That is the nature of the supernatural.  It is far beyond our understanding.

But our heavenly Mother sees the effectiveness of our sacrifices. "Today again I thank you for all that you have accomplished for me in these days.  Especially, dear children, I thank you in the Name of Jesus for the sacrifices which you offered in this past week."  Our Lady knows what graces we have called down through our offering.  Isn't it exciting that we can help her and even empower her!  Wow!

St. Paul wrote: "For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men." (1 Cor 1:25).  He knew that it was in weakness and powerlessness in the world's terms that God could work in power.  That is the huge secret of Christianity!  We are all called to be little lambs who follow The Lamb of God.  In our surrender to all that is weak and hard in our lives, we can become those lambs, offered on the altar of love to our Father.  What wonders will ensue as we follow the Lamb!

In Jesus and Mary!
