Dear children of Medjugorje, praised be Jesus and Mary !
2. On August 2, 2011, Mirjana received her monthly apparition at the Blue Cross, surrounded by a huge crowd of young people. After the apparition, she gave us the following message:
"Dear Children! Today I call you to be born anew in prayer and through the Holy Spirit, to become a new people with my Son; a people who knows that if they have lost God, they have lost themselves; a people who knows that, with God, despite all sufferings and trials, they are secure and saved. I call you to gather into God's family and to be strengthened with the Father's strength. As individuals, my children, you cannot stop the evil that wants to begin to rule in this world and to destroy it. But, according to God's will, all together, with my Son, you can change everything and heal the world. I call you to pray with all your heart for your shepherds, because my Son chose them. Thank you."
After the apparition, Mirjana said that Our Lady had insisted on the word ‘THEM’ when she spoke about our shepherds.
2. Hidden power of prayer. My friend Sophie was studying in France to become a psychiatrist. As a student, she had a very special encounter with God in Medjugorje, and all her life changed under the light of Christ.
One day while she was training in a hospital, she was with a professor who was teaching the students how to behave with patients afflicted with psychiatric illnesses. There were two other students in the room. The professor called in a man, who had been a patient of another psychiatrist for several years. When the patient saw that his usual doctor was not there, he became afraid and very agitated. The doctor explained to him that he was replacing his colleague during his vacation and he invited the patient to talk to him as with his regular doctor. But the patient was mad and said, “I will tell you nothing!”
After numerous attempts to calm down the patient and realizing that it was to no avail, he ended up telling him, “Since you do not want to speak to me, I am going to double the dosage of your medication”. The man went into a terrible fit, started to insult the doctor and became violent. My friend thought to herself, “he is going to kill the doctor!” Faced with this situation that could end up very badly, she had an excellent reflex. She started praying with her heart, saying the beautiful prayer that calls upon Our Lady who crushes the head of the serpent. (See PS1). In the course of the prayer, the man calmed down very quickly, to everyone’s surprise. Turning to the small group of students, the patient looked at Sophie and said, “Fortunately there are people who pray!” Then he walked out peacefully.
Our Blessed Mother tells us in Medjugorje, “Dear children, if you knew the value of the least of your prayers, you would pray constantly!”
After the patient’s departure, the psychiatrist turned to the students and said, “Did you see the mystical delirium?!” (The most sick of all was not necessarily the patient!) Of course Sophie did not take the risk of admitting that she had actually prayed, but that day she experienced the incredible power of prayer. Besides, this event was a turning point in the way she looked at her work as a psychiatrist and her relationship with the sick. She does not forget to pray for them.
Actually, every man has spiritual antennas and those we call “sick” often have a deep sensitivity to spiritual realities. The soul of a man is deeper than the physical or mental elements of his being. This is why whatever the wounds of his psyche, he deserves great respect.
3. Rest of the body and the mind. In her message of July 25th, Our Lady invites us to rest, but “in the love of God” (see PS2). Sophie’s testimony sheds light on a forgotten reality: prayer generates peace! It rests the body and the whole being! True prayer with the heart gathers the whole being and unifies it so that man feels regenerated. Only God can regenerate us because He is the One who created each part of our being, and assembled them with infinite love. Prayer fills our most intimate desires. Unlike “living it up” that does not give peace, prayer brings together, unites, fills, harmonizes all the human faculties. It would be good that vacations include a few days of retreat and silence in nature. A simple break from work is not enough to give a deep rest to our being, because the spiritual emptiness worries and destabilizes man. Because of this spiritual emptiness, many young people live far from their hearts. Bound by noise and music, they are anguished at the idea of being disconnected from the messages received on their electronic devices. For them, it is like a new kind of drug that is often used by the Evil One. Prayer, on the contrary, builds them up, because it puts all of the elements of their being in their proper place, according to the harmony that the Creator has placed in them.
4. The Youth Festival and the evening program. Thanks to MIR Centre of Megjugorje, thousands of people were able to follow the whole Youth Festival “live”. The parish continues to broadcast on the Internet the 3-hour evening program (from 6pm to 9pm in Summer, 5pm to 8pm in winter, local time) that can be received at www.medjugorje.hr
Once more, the Festival was magnificent! Great quality of the celebrations, songs, teachings, testimonies, and a communicative joy that seized thousands of young people representing over 60 different countries. Priests came in large numbers to help, listen, and hear confessions. On August 4, there were 501 priest concelebrating. We hosted 8 young people in our house at Beit Lehem. I could notice their change from day to day. Their hearts were expanding. They received real nourishment at last, knowing instinctively they were receiving the truth through the daily teachings. Most of them confided to us that their difficulty at home was the world around them trying constantly to draw them away from God. So they realized the importance of not staying isolated in their faith, but being united to be able to support each other. Our Lady calls Medjugorje “The place of the encounter of hearts” (July 25, 1999) This is really what happens here!
During the Festival, Cardinal Schöborn (from Vienna), sent a message to all young people present to express his deep communion with them, and urge them to be joined to Christ.

Permit me, little children, to lead you, open your hearts to the Holy Spirit so that all the good that is in you may blossom and bear fruit one hundred fold. Begin and end the day with prayer with the heart. Thank you for having responded to my call.”
