Not for the faint of heart
It’s way too early to be thinking about Christmas, but it’s never too soon to remember the message of Christmas: That Jesus is Emmanuel, God-with-us. God is with us, not separated from or against us. It’s a truth Saint Paul recognized in his Letter to the Romans. “God is for us . . . . What will separate us from the love of Christ?” (Romans 8:31, 35) he asked. His answer: Nothing—no trouble or hardship or power in the world. God’s presence has already saved us; the victory is won. God is on our side and wants us to be part of the divine life forever. Let’s accept that truth!
