Dear Family of Mary!
As I prayed the Rosary yesterday on the Solemnity of the Annunciation, I felt led to open St. Louis de Montfort's treatise "True Devotion to Mary" to see if the Holy Spirit would guide me to something. I opened to this little sentence:
4. As she was the way by which Jesus first came to us, she will again be the way by which he will come to us the second time though not in the same manner. (St. Louis De Montfort. True Devotion to Mary. Par. 50, #4)
In its simplicity, it spoke loudly to me. God, our Father, chose to send His Son to us the first time, through Mary of Nazareth. He could have sent Jesus any way He chose. But His number one choice, His first and best plan was to ask Mary to be the mother of Jesus, and to send the Holy Spirit to perform the miracle of Jesus' conception. Mary was God's first choice! She was the one that the Father trusted the most to be the mother of His Son. She was only a teen, of humble origins, living in a very remote village, as yet only betrothed. But none of that mattered. What mattered was Mary's heart. Mary was purely and totally devoted to God, and it would be the very best thing for God's plan to save mankind that Mary become Jesus' mother.
Well that was the first time Jesus came.
Then St. Louis makes the astonishing statement that it will be through Mary that God the Father will send Jesus the second time. If she was the number one choice the first time, she will be the number one choice the second time. Though He says it will be in a different manner.
I am so interested in what St. Louis means by this. I looked for a message from Our Lady of Medjugorje, to see if she gives us any clue to what St. Louis might be saying. I found this message:
"Dear Children! Today also I invite you to prayer, now as never before when my plan has begun to be realized. Satan is strong and wants to sweep away my plans of peace and joy and make you think that my Son is not strong in His decisions. Therefore, I call all of you, dear children, to pray and fast still more firmly. I invite you to self-renunciation for nine days so that, with your help, everything that I desire to realize through the secrets I began in Fatima, may be fulfilled. I call you, dear children, to now grasp the importance of my coming and the seriousness of the situation. I want to save all souls and present them to God. Therefore, let us pray that everything I have begun be fully realized. Thank you for having responded to my call." (August 25, 1991)
In light of St. Louis' words, this message spoke very much to me. Our Lady tells us she has a plan and that plan is under attack from the enemy. She tells us that so much of that plan now depends on us, on our prayer, fasting, and self-renunciation. She needs us to help her to realize the secrets she began in Fatima...She is organizing us to help her to triumph over the enemy, and save many souls for God. Could this plan involve the preparation for Jesus' coming? Could it be that Our Lady has been sent to us in these days to prepare the Church for the coming of the Lord, to make the Church holy and ready to receive Jesus, just as she was holy and ready to receive Him at the Annuciation?
Jesus will come again, we profess that in our Creed. Jesus will come again, but in a different manner than His first coming. But Mary will be involved in that coming. Our Mother's presence in Medjugorje for so long tells me that she is serious in these days, serious about making us ready for Jesus. He wants to return and bring us all home. She wants us to be prepared for our homecoming, and she wants all her other children ready as well. The manner of Jesus' coming may involve our holiness, our prayer, our response to Mary's call in Medjugorje. He may be depending on us too. "I call you, dear children, to now grasp the importance of my coming and the seriousness of the situation. I want to save all souls and present them to God. Therefore, let us pray that everything I have begun be fully realized."
What a joy it is to be called by Our Lady in these precious days, to be part of her plan to save souls. Annunciation graces!! They are for us in these days. "May it be done to me according to your word!"
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
