Mary, Queen of Saints honoured at international festival

From August 14th to 19th, the French city Paray le Monial, known for its Sacred Heart of Jesus sanctuary, is again hosting an International Marian Festival, this year on the theme “Mary, Queen of Saints.”

Catechesis, vigils, worship and testimonies will comprise this summer’s celebrations. While more than 1500 participated last year, this year organizers expect more than 3000 attendees at the festival, which is open to all. “Going to the school of Mary”, “Engaging in the mission” and “Building unity" are the event’s three main objectives.

Several new additions for 2009 include praying a “Chaplet of Five Continents”, worship with the youth of the world, and other events called “An Afternoon of Treasures” and “A day of the body”. Finally, witness talks by Archbishop Henri Teissier, the Archbishop-emeritus of Algiers, Fr. Michon des Foyers de Charité (or Fr. Marie-Michel du Carmel de la Vierge Missionnaire) and numerous communities like Shalom Brazil will awaken participants with fervour and missionary zeal. Those interested are invited to register at
