Mary Vitamin for August 7th
Topic: Rejoicing in the Assumption of Mary
Quote:
St. Peter Julian Eymard
"Jesus loved His Mother so much, how was it that He could separate Himself from her?"
Meditation:
St. Peter Julian Eymard
"He did so through love for us, for having given her to us as our Mother, it was but right that He should allow us to enjoy this ineffable good. But the time has now come to recall that gift, and Jesus comes Himself to seek His Mother: Innixa super dilectum suum. Mary died of love; the longing to see her Son and to be re-united with Him snapped her thread of life. Jesus is now to accord her a grand triumph. What passed between Jesus and His Mother at the moment of their meeting? Well, we know the joy of a mother and a loving son on meeting after a long separation. And Jesus, who so desired to see His Mother once more with what loving embraces He must have welcomed her!"
Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, the 30th day (165-6).
Resolution:
Today I will focus on the many different ways that the Feast of the Assumption is a feast of rejoicing. Mary is "human nature's solitary boast." We can look to her example and see the fulfillment of the promises made by Christ will be shared with humanity. (Death where is your sting?)
Moreover, in this rejoicing, God Himself sets the tone. The time of the Blessed Virgin Mary's earthly sacrifice has ended. She can now fully enjoy the company of Her Son and Lord and all that heaven promises. How joyful this heavenly reunion must have been!
Nine days from now we will celebrate the Assumption. I can begin preparing by praying a novena.
Another set of novenas -- scroll down for the Assumption.
Marian Vow:
Father Stefano Manelli, FI
"But in particular [every Franciscan of the Immaculate] must aspire, each one more than the other, to give a glory ever new and ever greater, as again St. Maximilian passionately prays: 'Grant me to render You such glory that no one has yet given You. Grant others to excel me in zeal for Your exaltation, and to me to excel them, so that in a noble competition Your glory might ever increase more profoundly, more rapidly, more intensely, as He desires who has exalted You so ineffably above all other beings.'"
The Marian Vow of Unlimited Consecration to the Immaculate, (Immaculate Mediatrix: 1996), 38.
I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Thanks be to God for graces received.
