Dear Family of Mary!
O Wisdom, you came forth from the mouth of the Most High, and reached from end to end, and disposed of all things sweetly and mightily: come and teach us the way of prudence. (Traditional "O" Antiphon)
"Dear children, As the Queen of Peace, I desire to give peace to you, my children, true peace which comes through the heart of my Divine Son. As a mother I pray that wisdom, humility and goodness may come to reign in your hearts; that peace may reign; that my Son may reign. When my Son will be the ruler in your hearts, you will be able to help others to come to know Him. When heavenly peace comes to rule over you, those who are seeking it in the wrong places, thus causing pain to my motherly heart, will recognize it. My children, great will be my joy when I see that you are accepting my words and that you desire to follow me. Do not be afraid, you are not alone. Give me your hands and I will lead you. Do not forget your shepherds. Pray that in their thoughts they may always be with my Son who called them to witness Him. Thank you." April 2, 2012
As we approach the Feast of the Nativity of the Lord, we want to become ever more focused on the Divine Child, the Incarnate God, the Wisdom that came forth from the mouth of the Most High. Jesus, the Word of God, is Wisdom. And He comes to dwell in us, to make His home in us, to identify completely with us. He comes to reign in us, with His humble and self-giving love.
We await His coming in the Feast, but He comes to us each day in Holy Communion, and in our prayer of the heart. Jesus, the Wisdom from on high, comes to rule in our hearts, bringing His peace, if we open our hearts to Him.
If we are not sure how to welcome Him, we have help. Our Lady tells us: "Do not be afraid, you are not alone. Give me your hands and I will lead you." Even today, as we await the Birth of Jesus, Our Lady is with us, leading us to the cave, guiding us gently and competently to the place where Jesus is born. She is with us to help us make her Son our Lord. She will show us how to pray, how to open our hearts, how to trust, and how to love Him. We have only to place our trust in her, and she will guide us to Him.
Over the next week, let's follow Mary to the manger, where we will find our Lord, humble, tiny, shivering, and vulnerable. Let's follow her into the midst of this great mystery, the Incarnation! Let's go with her to Bethlehem.
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
