CMMB: Your Weekly Reflection in Prayer 1/6/2013

Weekly Prayer Reflection for Winter

“They were overjoyed at seeing the star, and on entering the house, found the Child with Mary His mother. They knelt down and paid Him homage.”

Matthew 2:10-11

Epiphany
Dear Friends,
Apparently the star which guided the wise men to Bethlehem was easily and clearly seen. The gospel tells us that they had seen the star at its rising, and then “it came and stopped over the place where the Child was.” (Matthew 2:9) The star guided them to Jesus Christ, and they presented Him with the gifts they had brought from afar.

We, too, must look for the Light, look for the star and follow it, even if it is not so sharp and clear. Jesus Himself is the Light of the world, and the Spirit He shares with us is the Spirit of Light. The Light that guides us may not be as bright as the star that guided the Magi. But we do have the assurance that the Light is given, that the Light is stronger than the darkness. May we seek, find, follow, and live by the Light in this New Year.

Go before us with heavenly Light, O Lord, always and everywhere, that we may perceive with clear sight and reverence with true love the mystery in which You have invited us to participate. We make this prayer in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ.
Amen

PS: January 12, 2013 marks the three-year anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. As CMMB continues in the rebuilding effort of Haiti, we ask you to please take a moment in prayer for the people of Haiti. Watch our “Haiti: 100 Years of Healing and Hope” video.
