SCRIPTURE COMMENTARY #137

And Jesus rising up out of the synagogue, went into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever: and they besought him for her. And standing over her, he commanded the fever: and it left her. And immediately rising, she ministered to them. (Luke 4:38-39)

THE POWER OF INTERCESSION: Our Lord yielded to the intercession of His disciples for Peter's mother-in-law. To pray for the living and the dead is a work of mercy and a duty of brotherly love. "Pray for one another that you may be saved," writes St. James (5:16).
